The University of Kentucky’s Markey Cancer Center and the Department of Toxicology and Cancer Biology are jointly seeking an exceptional candidate for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in cancer biology at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants should have a PhD and/or MD with extensive experience that complement existing department strengths on the broad range of cancer cell signaling, epigenetics, metabolism or DNA repair. Competitive start-up funds and faculty salary will be provided, commensurate with level of experience. In addition, wet laboratory space will be provided in the new, open-format, Healthy Kentucky Research Building (HKRB), which houses the majority of cancer basic researchers and is in close proximity to state-of-the-art research cores. A start date as early as January 1, 2024 is anticipated.

The Markey Cancer Center is an NCI-designated Cancer Center on the medical campus of the University of Kentucky. Situated on a campus with all six health profession colleges, the cancer center is located within a vibrant and expanding basic and clinical research community with ample opportunities for collaboration within and across its research programs (see https://ukhealthcare.uky.edu/markey-cancer-center/research for more information).

The Department of Toxicology and Cancer Biology is located at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, adjacent to the Markey Cancer Center. Members of the department are actively engaged in a variety of graduate education and research areas, including basic & translational cancer biology, forensic science and environmental toxicology. For more information about the department, see https://toxicology.med.uky.edu/

Applications should include a curriculum vita, as well as a cover letter with description of cancer research interests and a discussion of future research plans. Applicants should provide names and addresses of at least three professional references, who will be contacted for invited applicants. Applications should be submitted online at https://ukjobs.uky.edu/postings/430685 and will be reviewed by a faculty search committee as applications arrive.
